The European Cultural Routes are a multi-faceted network launched by the Council of Europe initiative in 1987. These paths serve to connect the rich heritage of the different countries and cultures of Europe and to present a living, common cultural heritage.
The Spessart, a region in Germany, is known for its involvement in this project, with the Spessart Nature Park being home to more than 100 such cultural trails, often designed as circular trails.
